"Voyage to the bottom of the Sea" is a science fiction classic in the same class as "Forbidden Planet."
But the thing you must listen for is the regular sonar sounds while the sub is diving. Today, we all know subs are absolutely silent these days. Remember "one ping" in Red October?
Classic, but quite dated. Forbidden Planet? Classic, but in no way dated.
