Once More Into The Lurch

My faithful readers have noticed my commenting on Bluetooth technology.

Much like the tv show Monk, it is a blessing...and a curse.  It is the curse bit that this curmudgeon seizes upon today.

I was paying bills today. To give my Sainted wife some quiet, I decide to use earphones. Blasting The Who at a gazillion watts doesn't seem to go over big except for me.

So earphones it was, using Bluetooth, since I was all of 20 inches away from the sound source (refer to my 23 1/2 inch Bluetooth post).

I had to put the music source - stay with me here- the gazillion watt stereo on, oh, something like vast power.  My iPhone does the music programming work and controls the volume.  My earphones work from the stereo, which is now under the command of the iPhone.  Is this complicated enough yet?

I step up to refresh my iced tea, turning a corner.  True to its heritage, Bluetooth realizes I have violated the 23 inch rule and promptly shuts down. I have to return the iPhone to a friendly spot, and all goes well. Can anything be more stupid? I have to put the iPhone someplace that is inconvenient for me, but convenient for Bluetooth.

It is a testimony to my personal fortitude that the whole shebang isn't at the bottom of the pool.
