We purchased a Jenn-Air stovetop when we redid our kitchen some time ago. We thought we had the cat's meow of stoves - you could change out burners to a grill and it had a downdraft fan, rather than requiring a huge hood overhead.
Downdraft fans, as it has turns out, aren't all what they are cracked up to be. Sure, they work pretty effectively for most things, but put a burger or an Italian sausage on the grill and it captures maybe 1/2 the smoke at best.
I know. I have had to clean the ceiling and light fixture overhead enough times.
Plus setting off the smoke detector.
