You've all heard this - when a lawn sprinkler system comes on, the sprinkler heads do a "chicka-chicka". I always assumed it was the law. Caddyshack and other Hollywood pictures make a big point of it, so there's real-life proof right there.
Hah! Apparently not real, real life. The chicka-chicka heads wear out rather quickly (all that chicka-chickaing), so worm gear heads are the choice of the modern sprinkler.
We have a rather small lawn, but it has three sprinkler "zones." Year by year, I have been losing my chicka-chickas. Today, the last one went. It wasn't working properly, but I suspect my stamping on it wasn't the best approach to fix it.
So no more chicka-chickas. I'm over the 60-year mark. How many more indignities will I have to endure? I miss my chicka-chickas.
