Clotheslines

Did you, while growing up, have clotheslines in your back yard?  How about the basement for inclement drying days outside?

This is the sort of stuff that hard-working mothers, like mine, had to deal with.  Plus a huge white tub washer with rollers on top to squeeze SOME of the water out before trudging upstairs and going outside to put it all on the clothesline.

Water is heavy stuff (I trust you know) so trudging up from the basement with a load of wet laundry was not the stuff dreams were made of.

Happily, today, even idiots like curmudgeons can twist a dial here, push a button there and get clean clothes.  We progress.
