A Guide to Horn-Honking

We curmudgeons are fond of the horns on our cars - they keep inept drivers on their toes and gently chide idiots who are daydreaming (or, more likely, talking on their phone or trying to clean up the Taco Bell burrito they just dropped in their lap) rather than paying attention to whether the light has turned green.  More importantly, horns should be used judiciously to assure maximal impact when needed.

Because the Curmudgeon Societé is rife with older sorts, we are especially concerned about older drivers.  As a result, the Handbook goes into some detail on the perils of honking at older drivers.  A good insistent honk can really discombobulate them, leading to more confused driving rather than more focused.

We certainly can't have our senior drivers panicking and mowing down any more innocent bystanders than they already do.  So honk, but honk with care - it's the right thing to do.
