Rain

There are some of us who actually DO gardening, and some who merely observe gardens.

I happen to be among the latter.

But being a technoid, I wanted a rain guage. For any normal person, these are the simplest of things, essentially a kitchen drinking glass.

Ho, ho.  A technoid needs a device that empties itself and sends the rain results to an indoor reader, so instead of a simple FREE rain guage, I invested in a ridiculously expensive one.

Like so many digital devices of this age, it retained all sorts of information.  Finding how much rain fell took pushing buttons, forgetting which buttons to push the next time it rained and so forth.

In frustration, I threw it into the pool. It is apparently raining at the bottom of the pool.  A lot.
