Big brother Buzz has been the sartorial standard-bearer for OK, now that I think it through, forever isn't too far off. He set a look, and we other family men followed .
Dad thought WW II attire: a white t-shirt and bellbottom jeans was just fine for sailing. I have the pictures to prove it.
Buzz changed everything. When I gave him a golf shirt - a really top notch one in its day - a laCoste, he had to exchange it - it wasn't 100% cotton.
So Buzz changed everything - the skipper started dressing way better. I bought cabana outfits just to piss the Buzzer off.
To my eternal regret, he was right all along - when you LOOK spiffy, you behave spiffy. And, by gum, we were spiffy sailors.
