Professor Carberry Writes:

I am happy to report that I have been joined in my studies here in Sumatra by an old college colleague for the duration of the summer.  He seemed somewhat fatigued by what he referred to as a "sacred responsibility" to certain "loyal followers" who apparently read some obscure musings that he would publish erratically.

He told me he was taking a sabbatical from publishing his observations for the duration of the summer to concentrate with me on unearthing crucial pottery shards that may be evidence of the famed Giant Rat.  As part of my continuing studies in psychoceramics, this discovery could make or break a fundamental tenet of my theory.  I am most appreciative of his help.

Although, he is what can only be described as a bit of a curmudgeon...
